What you should be reading, listening to and attending this month.
We have a culture of continuous improvement at Mobas. We challenge our team to read and learn as much as they can about our world, our clients and their specialist areas. Why is this important? Because fresh ideas, thinking and approaches allow us to continually improve and develop to serve our clients as effectively as possible.
As Harry Truman famously said, ‘Not all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers’.
So if you’re keen to develop but unsure where to start, each month we’re going to compile a list of what we as a team are reading, listening to and events we’re attending to give you a shortcut to significant insights that will help you evolve as a leader.
Here are our recommendations for September:
What we’re reading
Early this year, Mobas was accredited as a recipient of the Good Business Charter, a Government-backed scheme to encourage progressive business practices. The scheme is backed by Julian Richer, the founder of Richer Sounds.
This month we’re reading his latest book, The Ethical Capitalist, which charts how business can work better for society.
In the book, Julian describes what he learned from running his business for 40 years and how ethically-run businesses are invariably more efficient, more motivated and more innovative than those that only care about the bottom line.
What we’re listening to
If you’re thinking of something to listen to rather than read, then there are some excellent podcasts for those keen to understand the economic outlook for the coming months and beyond.
It pays to be informed and, as such, we recommend adding these podcasts to your queue.
